Foreign and Armenian scholars in the field of Chinese Studies had lectures during special course “Rethinking China’s Foreign Policy-2018”, Yerevan, Armenia

On September 20-25, 2018, Institute of Oriental Studies, National Academy of Sciences, Armenia, hosted a special course “Rethinking China’s Foreign Policy”, organized by “China-Eurasia” Council for Political and Strategic Research in cooperation with the Institute of Oriental Studies, National Academy of Sciences and the Department of Oriental Studies, ISEC, NAS.

Foreign prominent specialists in the field of Chinese studies, Dr. Tughrul Keskin (Professor, Director, Center for Global Governance, Shanghai University), Ivan Zuenko (Research Fellow, Far Eastern Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences, Expert Carnegie Moscow Center) Dr. Kaneshko Sangar (Specialist in the field of International Relations), Dai Yulong (PhD Candidate, Nanjing University), Minchao Hua (PhD Candidate Nanjing University), delivered lectures during the Special Course.

From the Armenian side, Dr. Mher Sahakyan (Head of the “China-Eurasia” Council for Political and Strategic Research” Foundation), Dr. Vardan Atoyan (ASUE, Vice President, “Amberd” Research Center), Dr.  Anahit Parzyan (Cybersecurity expert), Dr. Anna Zalinyan (Specialist in the field of Chinese Studies), Mihran Papazian (CEO at Brushette, USA, Adviser, ChinaHAY) presented their researches.

21 individuals, from different Armenian Universities and Research Centers were invited to attend in trainings and classes from September 20 to September 25. The speakers presented to attendees the prospects of the Armenian involvement in China’s One Belt, One Road Initiative, Economic Corridors of Silk Road Economic Belt, 21-st Century Maritime Silk road, China’s territorial disputes with neighbors, China’s Policy in the Middle East, China’s cybersecurity and digitalization issues, China’s think tanks,  development of transportation infrastructures in the framework of One Belt, One Road initiative, Political governance’s culture of China, Scottish independence in Chinese imagination, product development in China, Local Responses to Silk Road, etc.

Dr. Mher Sahakyan, the founder of the special course “Rethinking China Foreign Policy” stated: “During these five days foreign and Armenian leading specialists in the field of China’s foreign policy successfully passed their knowledge and experience to Armenian emerging young researchers. I hope that our young researchers will use these knowledge and skills for developing and strengthening relations between China and Armenia.” Mher Sahakyan also thanked to his Armenian and Foreign friends and colleagues for teaching during Special course “Rethinking China’s Foreign Policy”

In turn, Dr. Robert Ghazaryan, vice director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, mentioned, that the main aims of the Special course “Rethinking China’s Foreign Policy” are successfully implemented. During the Special course Armenian and foreign outstanding scholars helped attendees to improve their knowledge on China’s modern history, internal and external relations and in other spheres. He added that sinology is very modern scientific direction and now and on attendees can use their knowledge in various fields.
