Dr. Mher Sahakyan and Routledge Sign Contract for the Routledge International Handbook of Eurasian Geopolitics

Routledge has signed a contract to publish the Routledge International Handbook of Eurasian Geopolitics, a major new academic volume that will be edited by Dr. Mher D. Sahakyan. The proposal for the handbook has successfully passed peer review, marking an important step toward its realization and confirming the academic relevance of the project. At the same time, this milestone represents only the beginning of a longer process, as the main research, writing, and review work for the volume will take place in the coming years.

The initiative for the handbook was developed and led by Dr. Mher D. Sahakyan, whose experience in organizing international research collaborations and editing Routledge volumes has made it possible to bring together a truly global scholarly team. However, the success of this project is fundamentally the result of collective effort and strong teamwork. Scholars from more than 20 countries have joined this initiative, forming a diverse and highly qualified group of contributors whose participation reflects both academic excellence and shared commitment to advancing the study of Eurasian geopolitics.

Being part of this handbook is not simply a contribution to an edited volume, but an opportunity to take part in a major international project at a decisive moment for Eurasian studies. Each author brings unique expertise, regional knowledge, and original research, and every contribution strengthens the overall quality and impact of the project. In this sense, participation in the Routledge International Handbook of Eurasian Geopolitics positions each contributor as an active member of a global academic network, helping shape future debates on Eurasia.

An important role in the development of this project has been played by the Eurasian Research on Modern China and Eurasia conference, where several themes and ideas relevant to the handbook were discussed and refined. This platform enabled scholars to exchange ideas, test research approaches, and build the intellectual foundations of the project, demonstrating how academic cooperation can evolve into large-scale publications.

Looking ahead, the work on the handbook will also benefit from the activities of the Eurasian Continent Research Association and the Routledge Research in Eurasian Geopolitics book series, which are expected to further expand collaboration among scholars and enhance international academic dialogue on Eurasian affairs. This institutional framework will help sustain long-term cooperation, support future research initiatives, and strengthen connections between contributors involved in the handbook and beyond.

As the project moves forward, editorial coordination under Dr. Mher D. Sahakyan will remain central in guiding the handbook toward completion, ensuring coherence across contributions and maintaining high academic standards. While much work remains ahead in terms of writing, reviewing, and finalizing the manuscript, the signing of the contract with Routledge and the successful peer review of the proposal mark a significant achievement for the entire team.
