International Symposium on China and Europe in the Multipolarization Process Held at Renmin University of China with Participation of Mher D. Sahakyan
On July 18, 2026, Dr. Mher D. Sahakyan, Assoc. Professor and Founding Director of the“China-Eurasia” Council for Political and Strategic Research in Armenia, participated in the international symposium “China and Europe in the Multipolarization Process” organised by the Institute of International Studies of Renmin University of China. The event gathered leading scholars and experts to examine the evolving dynamics of China–Europe relations in an increasingly multipolar international system. International Symposium was chaired by Professor Dr. Di Dongsheng, Dean of the Institute of Regional and Country Studies, Renmin University of China.
The symposium focused on two major themes: China–Europe relations amid the rise and fall of globalization and industrial competition, cooperation, and rule reshaping between China and Europe. Scholars discussed the geopolitical, economic, and strategic implications of global transformations and explored how China and European countries can navigate new challenges and opportunities.
Mher Sahakyan was a featured speaker in Panel 2: Industrial Competition and Cooperation between China and Europe and Rule Reshaping. The Panel was chaired by Assoc. Professor Dr. Xu Zhengyuan, Secretary-General, Institute of Joint European Studies, Renmin University of China.
The panel brought together experts from leading academic institutions and international organizations to discuss the future of China–Europe engagement in a changing global environment.
During his remarks, Mher Sahakyan addressed the topic of relations between China and the European Union in the context of Multipolar World Order 2.0.
The symposium followed a format that encouraged both concise presentations and interactive discussion. Scholars from institutions including the Renmin University, University of Cambridge, Tsinghua University, University of Salzburg, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and other leading research centers exchanged views on contemporary global developments and the role of China and Europe in addressing them.
